Jason Hughes | Intro

Jason Hughes currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer for Visual Matrix, a leader in cloud-based property management technology for more than 2,000 hotels worldwide and a preferred partner of Best Western Hotels & Resorts. He also serves as a Growth Advisor for Alpine Software Group (ASG), a fast-growing software business that buys, builds, and operates market-leading vertical SaaS companies, including Visual Matrix. He joined in April of 2010.

Jason is also the founder of Hughes Software Ltd where he works on his side projects like Hospitality Anywhere. He leads teams of engineers and analysts in Texas, India, and Vietnam. He is a hard core believer in remote work, agile processes, and focusing on continuous improvement.

An alum of The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes!) and Western Governors University, Jason has a broad background in the field of Information Technology. Prior to bein installed as the first CTO at Visual Matrix, he spent more than 10 years learning the ins and outs of the Visual Matrix Property Management System (PMS) as a Support Specialist, Software Developer, and Project Manager for the company, where he was able to hone his leadership and decision-making skills.

For over 10 years he worked hand in hand with the company's founder, David Awad, and guided the company through the M&A process with ASG. After the aquisition he stayed on as the CTO and focused on growing and transforming both the product and the team.

Visual Matrix proved to be a natural fit with his education and his previous work experience on the front lines of the hospitality industry. Jason came to Visual Matrix with 8 years of experience, working front-of-house jobs at hotels in both Nevada and Ohio. He started his hotel career as a teenager at the Stratosphere on the Las Vegas Strip and eventually moved to Hyatt, Hilton, and Marriott, and other brands.

In his free time, Jason and his family enjoy traveling, camping, RVing, playing board games, homesteading, woodworking, and learning about different cultures. He hopes to take family trips to Ecuador, Japan, and Iceland soon. He is currently learning Spanish. Jason lives north of DFW in Texas with his wife Meghan and their 3 children.
